Desination Weddings – Lionsquare Vail Colorado & Bridgeport Connecticut (Or where the heck has Kristy been?!)

I always look at the upcoming month as a fresh slate, full of opportunity. Back in August (it feels like so long ago) I was asked by colleagues to travel to the east coast and the mountains of Colorado for upcoming September weddings. Of course I jumped at the opportunity, because I adore traveling! At the time it really didn’t occur to me just how busy I’d be or the battle my immune system would be facing in the aftermath, but it’s a small price to pay for being able to do what I love.

I was born and raised on the East Coast so I couldn’t resist traveling with Kara Pearson of Kara Pearson Photography to Connecticut, by way of NYC. I spent a couple days visiting with friends Michelle (I photographed her wedding in PA this past July) and college friend Austin in Manhattan. We all got together for some fabulous Martinis at VNYL in Midtown. They have the coolest bathrooms ever, no kidding! I also took a quick trip to B&H Photo and Video, which is basically MECCA for photographers and videographers. Here are a couple shots from Allie and John’s wedding in Connecticut. They had a gorgeous ceremony partially officiated by John’s father and Allie’s family hosted the incredible reception that continued well into the night even after the bride and groom took off!

I love this look between father and daughter just before they walked down the aisle!

John’s father conducted an amazing prayer with the groomsmen and made me cry before the service. It was very moving. Notice the ring bearer in the middle? He was such a champ all day long.

The service was filled with beautiful music. Here he bride and groom sing together with their guests. John’s sisters sang when Allie walked down the aisle and I don’t think there was a dry eye in the house.

Everyone kept talking about Allie’s “big eyes” all night. Here you can see what they mean!

We took the Bridal party out to a pier on the ocean, it was very patriotic.

These birds are so freaking cute. They topped the cake. John’s had a law book in his wing… he just completed law school. I love.

The following day I was lucky to catch up with my parents in Rye NY for a day of fun. They brought my nephew Kyle who is quite possibly the cutest kid on the planet and we ran around the waterfront and the town of Rye just enjoying our good company. The weather was perfect for a day of relaxation, but I managed to “work” a bit and get a couple shots of our day. Isn’t Kyle CUUUUUTE?

I also had the pleasure of working with Dreamtime Images up in Vail earlier this month. Camille and Miah had a beautiful ceremony at The Lionsquare in Vail. They had a lovely cocktail hour up at the top of the mountain (UNBELIEVABLE VIEWS) just a short Gondola ride away from the reception which turned into one serious party. Not only were the bride and groom’s friends living it up at the photo booth and on the dance floor, but every family member young and old was having the time of their lives! September weddings are for party people. Here’s one image I grabbed that really showcases the backdrop. Also don’t you love brides who traverse mountain tops?!

Now I’m back in Colorado playing catch up, meeting with clients for 2010 and finishing up some beautiful albums from 2009. I’ll have to post photos of those too, so stay tuned!
