I recently started working for a company that’s office is located in the Oxford Hotel, one of the oldest operating hotels in Denver Colorado. I was struck by the cool antiques and architectural details. Also intriguing is the maze like floor plan due to additions and expansions into other buildings.
During our house closing on Friday I learned from our realtor that there are many ghost stories about the hotel and this morning I was inspired to take a walk around with my camera. I love Haunted Houses. Last October I was lucky enough to be a critic for Haunted Denver and experienced all of the Haunted Attractions in Metro Denver. So its neat for me to imagine that my place of employment is truely Haunted.
I did some research online and while I can’t find very comprehensive information I did find a news story of the most Haunted Hotels in the US. The Oxford Hotel is one of them and you can view the video here
I had a good time exploring the dimly lit hallways and unique decor throughout the building. I have yet to venture to the basement bathroom which is rumored to be particularly creepy. Nor did I make it to the “blood red” Cruise Room. Apparently its a bar modeled after the Queen Mary, a guest favorite and host to several ghost sightings. I’ll have to take a longer excursion when I have more time, but for now the results from today can be found on my flickr page if you click the photo title above. I’ve also included one of the Ghost Stories in my Flickr Photo Set description.
