We visited my BFF from childhood in Armonk, NY where cookies were made while wearing awesome aprons. Drew won the Great Santa Cookie Decorating Challenge with his interpretation of Zombie Santa. The adorable cat’s name is Sasha.
From Armonk we made a brief stop in NYC and saw our besties Ryan and Austin, as well as an amazing theater experience called Sleep No More. Then it was to Philly by train for a Rowe Family Christmas. Here’s Drew enjoying the view at Market St. station.
I had to drag Drew to all the usual holiday sites in my hometown. Above is a photo of the Gingerbread Competition display at Peddler’s Village. Below we added a new tradition of Geocaching with my brother, his wife and their two adorable pooches! And of course there was present opening! With two kids and a crafty extended family present opening is still pretty exciting. My Aunt sent my brother a jumble of cards with origami dollar letters on them. It took us a very long time to figure out the below words! My mom doesn’t appreciate it, but we call Jack (the Yorkie below) the “kitty”, since he likes to sleep in sun beams. Above my brother tries out the loot from the “Christmas Crackers” that Drew and I brought in honor or our 2010 Christmas in Australia. Drew finally got to see the famous Ringing Rocks that aren’t far from where I grew up. The whole family ran around with hammers banging on a field of rocks that emit a bell like tone when hit with hammers. The Rowe’s always perpetuated the myth that it’s because the rocks have iron in them. Turns out scientists aren’t exactly sure why they ring, but they believe it has to do with tension.
